The groove patterns in the free library are fancy to the point of being unusable (there's no "basic" straight 4/4 rock rhythm! It's all ghosts and flams and jungle madness). It would require quite a lot of processing for modern pop or metal.

Good as-is for softer genres or "vintage" 70's rock sounds. The free kit sounds quite soft and "acoustic". You can either compose your own drum tracks, or you can select and create drum tracks based on styles offered within the Groove Library. You can use MT Power Drum Kit to create realistic sounding drum tracks for pop, rock, metal or other styles. Several articulations (too many to list them all) MT Power Drum Kit is a multi layer drum sampler VST/AU virtual instrument plugin. The free kit is quite basic: kick, snare, hi-hat, 4 toms, ride, 2 crashes, splash, china It can load extra (paid) libraries and extra samples It requires installing an extra installation managerīig: the free library is 2GB (plus the plugin itself, plus the extra installation manager)Ī lot of options to refine the kit sound: multiple mikes per piece, separate volume for each articulation, dynamic processing, ADSR envelope editor, pitch shifting… In comparison, SSD5 Free is much more complex:

This simplicity means I can teach my drummer how to lay down a basic rhythmic idea with it, without requiring him to have a full course in audio engineering :p.

No alternative sound choices: it's this one kit, love it or leave itĪ selection of decent basic groove patterns and fills, in 4/4 and 6/8 The sound is pre-processed punchy modern rock/metal The kit is basic: kick, snare, hi-hat, 3 toms, ride, 2 crashes, splash, chinaīasic extra articulations: open/half/closed/pedal hi-hat, shot/side-stick snare, regular/bell ride, regular/stopped crash No installer or extra junk: it's just a zipped folderĪ pretty decent GUI with a basic mixer and not much to fiddle around On the flip side, it's not very flexible, because it's punchy and pre-processed. It definitely has a rock/metal in-your-face sound, which is actually pretty good as-is for the genre. It seems to be a kit meant for metal and hard rock.
